Forming new healthy habits is such an important vision to reach your goals. It takes 21 days to form a new habit. When trying to change your routine it’s important to do a task daily to help seal in that new habit into your sub conscience mind.
In my case, I really needed to get my act together and organize my house! My home was getting so bad that I didn’t even want to come home because I couldn’t stand walking into my mess. Never mind having people over. The thought of cleaning my home is so over whelming; I didn’t know where to start.
I have been listening to Terri Savelle Foy for about a year. And she talks a lot about how a cluttered home leads to a cluttered mind. This can affect your success in life. Terri also speaks a lot about on small daily tasks can lead to big changes in your life.
So this is what I started doing daily, the night before I would pick 1 small cleaning project for the next day. And the project has a maximum time of 20 minutes. Also the cleaning project had to be someone people see. Closets, cabinet, draws don’t count yet.
I did this every day for 1 month. It didn’t matter what the cleaning project was as long as I did something daily. After about 2 weeks of this. These small daily tasks really started to add up. Plus I have found it been much easier to stick to this routine.
Before I would just binge clean; would take me 3 days to get my house ready for public viewing. The problem I had is I couldn’t keep up with that type of cleaning. It sucked the life right out of me. What would happen is I would do any type of cleaning for at least 3 weeks, and then the cycle would start over again.
I have just gotten to the point in my life that I need to take a much more proactive approach to getting my home organized. In changing how I am changing my cleaning habits it’s rubbing off on my family. My husband and daughter are getting much better at doing their part pick up after themselves, because now it doesn’t seem like such a monster task anymore.
I would love to hear about a new habit you are looking to form in the comment section. What daily task are you working on for 21 days?
